April and May FOPAL Sales Cancelled

The Board of Friends of the Palo Alto Library has been closely monitoring news of the coronavirus in order to do what may be prudent for the health of our volunteers and sale attendees. At this time we have a clear order from the Health Officer of the County of Santa Clara to shelter in place until at least May 4, and an order from the Director of the California Department of Public Health which is similar and open-ended.

Since the Santa Clara County order was announced on March 16, all of our scheduled activities have stopped. No April book sale, and no sorting, so no donation room hours. Please do not bring your donations to us, there is very likely no-one there to receive them and they will get wet if rain starts.

The Library's physical facilities being closed, so are our in-library stores.

Thank you for your cooperation and we hope to see you in June as long as conditions improve.

Public Safety Announcement

The City of Palo Alto has an in-depth webpage with more details and updates daily, including the new guidance from the Santa Clara County Public Health Department to protect the most vulnerable in the community, such as those 80 years and older and those with pre-existing health conditions. For details and daily updates check: cityofpaloalto.org/Coronavirus. You can also sign up for alerts at: cityofpaloalto.org/newslettersignup.

Library Closings in April and May

They're closed like we are. But they've got things to distract you.

The Library has an overview of its online offerings at its eLibrary page. Many of these offerings are available to Library card holders, and the Library has also worked to make it easier for new card holders to get access to some of these. Read about it here.
