Special Book Bag Sale on September 15

Our August book bag sale was so huge a success that we're holding another one on Sunday, September 15 from 11 am to 2 pm.  Fill entire shopping bags with books from our bargain room for just $2.00 a bag (we supply the bags too).  Come to the bargain room and adjacent patio at our usual location next to the Terman Library at 661 Arastradero Road in Palo Alto.

Annual Meeting and Members-Only Book Sale on September 13

Our annual meeting for all members will be held on Friday, September 13 from 6 pm to 7 pm at Terman Library at 661 Arastradero Road, followed by a special members-only book sale from 7 pm to 9 pm.  Current nominees for seats on the Board of Directors include Norma Burchard, Gretchen Emmons, Chris Kenrick, Gerry Masteller, Shantha Mohan, Shelby Valentine, and Ellen Wyman; additional nominations from the floor may be made at the meeting.  There will be light refreshments.

At the sale that evening, members can buy up to 20 books per room.  Bring the special yellow or blue ticket that you received in the mail or join at the door or online

October Book Sale will be at Terman

We've received a one-month extension at Terman, so our October book sale will be in the familiar rooms (the regular sale on October 12 and the book bag sale on October 13).  Plans for book sale space after that look very promising as well.  Please continue to bring all your book donations to Terman.  And a special thanks to all of our supporters for your wonderful comments of support.

Library has DVDs from A.I. to Zoolander

Did you know that Palo Alto's libraries have over 1,260 movies on DVDs, including many recent releases?  You may check out one or two DVDs, each for an entire week, and then renew if no one else has placed a hold on them.  Many of the DVDs have been purchased through funds donated by the Friends of the Palo Alto Library.

This notice comes to you from the non-profit organization Friends of the Palo Alto Library.  We're proud to have provided over $100,000 in 2001 to help Palo Alto public libraries.  Visit our web site.  Become a member by joining online.
